PC shipments slow in Q2, Windows 8 not expected to help

. PC vendors will continue to struggle as worldwide shipments are expected to grow just 0.9% in 2012, according to IDC. The research firm estimates that companies will ship only 367 million units, marking the second consecutive year of growth below 2%. Pictures of Sony's Xperia J smartphone leak

. Some pictures of Sony's (SNY) Xperia J mid-range smartphone have started to trickle out on Taiwanese site ePrice and so far the new Xperia device looks pretty similar to the Sony Xperia smartphones we've seen in the past. The key difference is that the Xperia J seems to have more curved edges around its outer frame, making it somewhat more stylish than previous models that were simply flat slabs. In terms of specs, the Xperia J is actually a bit weaker than the Xperia ion Sony released earlier this year as it features a 4-inch FWVGA display, a 1GHz single-core processor, a 5-megapixel camera and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Facebook reportedly “forcing” employees to use Android phones in order to improve the Android Facebook app

As we had reported a couple of days ago, Facebook for iOS was given a pretty big update which hopefully will sit well with iOS users. Unfortunately the Android version of the Facebook app has yet to receive the same treatment and while I personally find that the app isn't too horrible, it could do some with tweaks and improvements and added functionality. Facebook seems to think so as well and according to reports, Facebook's management has instituted a new "policy" that supposedly will make employees more proactive in making the Android Facebook app just as good, if not better than its recently updated iOS counterpart.

Asus Transformer Pad 300 gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in the UK

The Asus Transformer Pad 300 was probably the first non-Nexus device to get updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, thus keeping with the Taiwanese company's tradition of being one of the fastest to issue updates to new OS versions. But the initial rollout, which we told you about last week, was limited to the US. Not anymore, though. Jelly Bean has now trickled across the ocean and arrived in the UK. We can assume that the other European countries are going to be next. Asus UK announced on its Facebook page that the JB update is now rolling out.

As this is an over-the-air update, your tablet will notify you once it reaches it.

FCC wants to know if it's too modest about broadband, gives chance to fight caps and slow speeds

A common complaint with the FCC's National Broadband Plan is its conservative definition of the broadband in question: many would argue that the 4Mbps baseline is an anachronism in an era of 4G, FiOS and Google Fiber. If you've ever wanted the FCC to up the ante, now's your chance. The regulator wants comments on its definitions of fixed and mobile broadband to gauge whether real-world trends like multi-user streaming video should lead to raised expectations for internet providers. Ever been burnt by a too-low bandwidth cap.

Be it the upright seating arrangement, the utility in a compact package, or just buyers captivated by dancing hamsters, the Kia Soul has proven to be one of the Korean automaker's best-selling models. Its popularity has driven Kia to renew the funky hatch for the 2014 model year, perhaps with some unexpected variants. The sleuths at CarPix have nabbed the next Soul testing in the desert, and even with the camouflage disguise, our spies say it looks like the redesign has left the Soul slightly lower and a little wider. Additionally, the headlights have a more squared-off, masculine appearance.

According to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald, the new CEO of Mitsubishi Australia isn't mincing words, saying "the product is too old...the prices are too high." Oshikiri took over the Australian branch of the Japanese automaker just ten weeks ago, and says the brand needs to be updating its product portfolio more quickly.

The magic number is the number of wins by the leading team, and loses by the second-place team that will secure the division for the leading team. It is an easy number to calculate, just take 163 (number of games in a season + 1) subtract wins by the leader, and losses by the second-place time, and you have it.
