Cellhelmet For iPhone 5 Owners

Cellhelmet For iPhone 5 Owners

So you have picked up a spanking new iPhone 5, and since this is your first Apple product, you would want to do your level best to protect it against any kinds of damage, be they from knocks, drops or scratches. While an iPhone case is dime a dozen out there, the Cellhelmet for the iPhone 5 is another suitable candidate that you might want to check out – after forking out $49.99 for it, of course. Back in February this year, the Cellhelmet was just a Kickstarter project, so it is nice to see the idea materialize.

Mercedes-Benz Ener-G-Force Concept is mean, clean and green

Mercedes-Benz Ener-G-Force Concept is mean, clean and green

As we mentioned earlier this month, the Mercedes-Benz Ener-G-Force concept was built as an entrant for this year's LA Design Challenge. The radical concept, visualizing what a rugged vehicle will look like more than a decade in the future, takes some of its styling cues from the Mercedes-Benz G-Class – a capable off-roader, despite its luxurious appointments. Conceptually, the Ener-G-Force utilizes a "hydro-tech converter" to convert water into hydrogen for its fuel cell power.

Yoshi's Island Wii U Listed

Yoshi's Island Wii U Listed

It was not too long ago that the Nintendo Wii U was released, and here we are with word that Yoshi's Island Wii U is going to make its way to the latest Nintendo console. Still, this unannounced Wii U title was apparently dismissed by Nintendo in a flash, claiming that the debug menu which showed up the Yoshi's Island Wii U was just a “mockup”, and needless to say, of no important consequence. However, online retail listings on Best Buy and Future Shop do seem to point out otherwise, making references to the Yoshi's Island Wii U title.

Wandant Dog Pedometer

Wandant Dog Pedometer

So your doctor figured out that you have not had enough exercise, and it is time to stop lazing around and home and doing something about your waistline, no. Well, perhaps things should also change for your dog in terms of physical activity – after all, I am a firm believer of a dog requiring enough exercise, and needs to get his or her daily walk with you as the 'pack leader'. Fujitsu has come up with the Wandant, which is a neck tag for dogs that is full of sensors, in addition to a cloud-based service that is capable of tracking its wellbeing.

Google Drive For Android & iOS Now Supports Spreadsheet Editing

Google Drive For Android & iOS Now Supports Spreadsheet Editing

Adding to the flurry of updates on its popular file storage service that is Google Drive, Google is announcing an update today that will allow users to edit spreadsheets on their mobile devices. This is definitely good news for many Google Drive users. Google previously updated its Google Drive app for iOS and Android to support document editing. Yet, those who use spreadsheets a lot have been praying for the feature since the beginning.
Just in time for the holiday season, the spreadsheet editing feature lets users switch fonts, resize columns, sort data, and view edits to shared spreadsheets in real time.

Audi torques the floor in LA with four new TDI oil burners

The diesels are coming. Well, one diesel engine sitting pretty under the shapely hoods of five Audi models: the A6, A7 and A8 sedans along with the Q5 crossover are joining the already available Q7, each powered by a 3.0-liter TDI engine offering up 240 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. Suffice it to say, we're pleased. Audi promises improvements up to 30 percent in both fuel economy and carbon dioxide emissions when compared to its gasoline engines. Not all figures are available quite yet, but the A8, which is coming first in the spring of 2013, will score an estimated 24 miles per gallon in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.

Whatsapp For Android A Paid Service Down The Road?

Hmmm, there are whispers going around which will definitely not go down well with folks who are currently enjoying free communication over Whatsapp – it seems that rumors are floating concerning the most famous chat application for smartphones in the world, touting that we eventually will need to pony up money to use Whatsapp in the future. Apparently, a spokesperson of Whatsapp mentioned to androidworld.nl that Whatsapp might cost a dollar to use down the road, if downloaded over Google Play. Of course, paying for Whatsapp is not new, as iPhone users had to pony up money for the privilege of using Whatsapp all along.

Vote for the 2012 Technology of the Year

Vote for the 2012 Technology of the Year

Our sister site, AOL Autos, has been working hard all year to collect and narrow down this year's most interesting and innovative automotive technologies into six finalists for its inaugural Technology of the Year Award. Over 30 technologies were considered across the areas of Connectivity, Active Safety and Telematics. After reviewing them all, the group has been narrowed down to six finalists by a panel of 16 judges, which includes myself and four other Autoblog editors, as well editors from Engadget and Translogic, and even Tony Fadell, the former leader of Apple's iPod team and creator of the Nest learning thermostat.

i3 Coupe Concept continues to evolve BMW's electric aspirations

i3 Coupe Concept continues to evolve BMW's electric aspirations

BMW has unveiled the i3 Coupe Concept ahead of the 2012 LA Auto Show. Like the automaker's other i efforts, the i3 Coupe boasts a carbon fiber body, and an electric motor with a maximum output of 170 horsepower helps shuttle the two-door down the road. Believe it or not, the i3 Coupe Concept puts its 184 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels via a single-speed transmission. Engineers bolted an array of lithium-ion batteries under the floor to keep the vehicle's center of gravity as low as possible, and the carbon fiber reinforced plastic chassis gives the i3 Coupe Concept plenty of rigidity.

Piperoid Paper Robot Kits – No batteries needed

Piperoid is a paper craft robot kit designed and produced in Japan. The robots are made of paper pipes that have pre-drilled holes and marks to show where to cut, fold, and connect them.  All you need is a pair of scissors and about 30 minutes for assembly. No need for glue or tape. Many components of Piperoid can move or be swapped with other Piperoid's body parts. In this day and age of high tech, this might be a nice stocking stuffer idea for the robot fan in your family.

Ericsson files lawsuit against Samsung in the US citing alleged patent infringement

When it comes to lawsuits against Samsung, it looks like Apple isn't the only one after the Korean company for alleged patent infringements. Ericsson has recently filed a lawsuit against Samsung in the US for alleged patent infringement, which seemingly could have been avoided had Ericsson and Samsung manage to arrive at successful negotiations regarding the renewal of a FRAND patent licensing agreement. While the specifics of the patents involved were not revealed, Ericsson has stated that the patents in question are part of "a crucial system for technology sharing that has helped create today's mass market communications industry".

Huawei Ascend D2 Benchmark Reveals Hardware Details

Huawei Ascend D2 Benchmark Reveals Hardware Details

Late last month at China, Huawei trumpeted the introduction of their maiden phablet attempt, calling it the Ascend D2. At that point in time, Huawei remained quiet on the kind of hardware specifications that the Ascend D2 carried, but a leak is inevitable eventually in this day and age, where GLBenchmark has just confirmed the chipset as well as screen specifications of the Ascend D2 in a benchmark result. The 5" LCD display will jive alongside the best of them from HTC (HTC J Butterfly, HTC Droid DNA), sporting Full HD resolution, in addition to a 1.5GHz quad-core processor to get the job done when you need all the processing muscle.

Archos 97 XS Hits The FCC

It did not take too long for the larger sized Archos 97 XS to arrive at the FCC, taking less than a week after its sibling, the Archos 80 XS knocked on the doors of the FCC. Needless to say, it does not take a genius to figure out just what kind of screen size the Archos 97 XS packs – we are talking about a 9.7-inch display, but other than that, details on the Archos 97 XS remain scant, so we do hope to fish for leaks somewhere on the Internet. What we do know, however, is that Archos relies on a TI OMAP processor for their 10-inch Archos 101 XS, while inside the 8-inch Archos 80 XS, a Rockchip processor runs underneath the hood.

2012 Brazilian Grand Prix: The circle is complete, and what a circle it's been [spoilers]

The track between the lakes, the Circuit d'Interlagos in Sao Paulo, Brazil, yet again served up a fitting finale to the Formula One season. There were all kinds of ways for the two Driver's Championship contenders – Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull and Fernando Alonso in the Ferrari – to win and lose during the 71 laps of the Brazilian Grand Prix, and that was before the rain, before the yellow flags and safety car periods, and before the accidents.
