Flud social reader shutting its doors on August 8th, will you miss it?

It's tough out there for app makers. With over a million applications available in the Google Play Store (it's true), sometimes you just get lost in the mix. Take Flud, a social news reader that allowed users to follow and share news around the web with others. Flud's founder, designer, and CEO Bobby Ghoshal sent out an email today announcing the shutting down of the application and service which garnered between 50,000 – 100,000 app installs on the Play Store, 5-star reviews from 472 users, and over 2,000 +1′s on Google+.

Verizon HTC One Release Slated For August 15th

Verizon HTC One Release Slated For August 15th

Verizon has still not revealed to its current and prospective customers when it plans on finally releasing the HTC One. Other major carriers in the U.S. have already been carrying the device for quite a few months now, Verizon is yet to launch yet. We had heard a lot of rumors recently that pegged the release of this smartphone on August 1st, but apparently that's not going to happen. Droid-Life has reportedly received a document in which the Verizon HTC One release date has been slated for August 15th.

One might argue that the delay in launching this smartphone on Verizon would result in lackluster customer interest.

Nokia Reportedly Has An Event Scheduled In September, Tablet Or Phablet?

Last month Nokia launched its much rumored Lumia 1020 smartphone amid much fanfare. There was a lot of anticipation surrounding the event, but now that it has gone by, we must wonder what Nokia has in store for us in the future. The folks over at Windows Phone Central claim that Nokia has an event scheduled for September 26-27 in New York. It is not yet known exactly what Nokia would be announcing at that event, in fact it is too soon to say that this might be a product unveil event. For all we know, it could be a tea party for Nokia employees.

Nevertheless, the alleged event has got the rumor mill churning.

RFID technology has certainly come in handy during some point in time, including helping hotels cut down the theft levels of their towels, while paranoid androids out there can always settle for a RFID door lock to ensure that losing your physical key need not give you sleepless nights. However, thieves too, have a penchant for technology, and this is where Das Keyboard's HackShield bags come in handy – this is truly a one-of-a-kind backpack and messenger bag that enables professionals who are always on the move to remain protected against physical and digital intrusion.

Philips compact fluorescent bulbs with built-in photocell automatically turn on your porch lights

I recently reviewed the Belkin WeMo Switch and said it was one of the steps I was taking to automate my home and increase its security.  The Switches work great to control lamps plugged into outlets inside my house, but my porch lights don't plug in to an outlet.  I had first thought that I might use the new WeMo light switches with my porch lights, but I think my house wiring is too old to use with them.  I like to have my lights automatically turn on and off with the sun, and I used to use a screw-in base with a photocell when I had different fixtures and used incandescent bulbs.

Samsung has announced two upgraded versions of its Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini smartphones. Both will feature FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE, enabling "continuous and seamless voice and data communications even as the devices switch between two different types of LTE networks.". Except for the broader LTE compatibility, the enhanced Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini shouldn't be different from the original models. Samsung did not say when (or where) the new smartphones will be released.

Commercial TDD-LTE (or TD-LTE) networks are currently deployed in few markets, including China, India, and Sri Lanka.

2015 Subaru Legacy prototype caught testing in Michigan

2015 Subaru Legacy prototype caught testing in Michigan

The current Subaru Legacy is only three years old, but compared to rival midsize sedans like the Mazda6 and Ford Fusion, which have recently received thorough redesigns, it might as well be a million. In other words, a reworking is in order. Caught in these spy shots, the 2015 Subaru Legacy appears to be about the same size as the current model, but it appears that Subaru is looking to push the sedan a little more upmarket in terms of styling and luxury. Despite the heavy camouflage, some elements of the new Legacy's design are still visible.

Yesterday we reported that Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system appeared to be doing quite well for itself in the UK, nabbing about 8.1% of market share which put them ahead of their competitor, BlackBerry. While that is definitely good news for Microsoft and cause for celebration, over in the US it seems that Microsoft just can't seem to get out of the shadow of iOS and Android, and according to the latest figures released by Kantar, Windows Phone currently sits at 4% of the market in June 2013, compared to back in April 2013 where they peaked at 5.6%.

Top Gear in dustup over alleged staged hovercraft scene (video)

Top Gear walks a very narrow line between documentary, sitcom and reality television. And while some aspects of it are true, it shouldn't be a huge shock that there are plenty of staged elements. Still, there seem to be elements of the British public that think everything shown on the telly is true, which makes the latest controversy over Top Gear's fakery seem rather silly to us. The anger stems from the July 21 episode, which actually airs tonight on BBC America (spoiler alert from here out), where Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May attempt to convert a Ford Transit into a hovercraft.

In fact by functional we mean that not only does it light up and have switches and stuff, but to the point where it is actually being used as a training simulator by the Institute of Aircraft Maintenance at Bordeaux-Merignac where he was invited to come and guest lecture.

One Autoblog staffer who drove the limited-edition Shelby GT350 wrote it probably was the best Mustang he'd driven, but, at some point, the fun had to come to an end: December 31 is the last day the GT350 will be available to order. The GT350's option list has evolved much like it did for the original 1965-67 GT350. For 2011, the 45th Anniversary edition only came in coupe form and was painted white with blue stripes, just as with the 1965 car. The 2012 GT350 was offered as a coupe or convertible, and three colors were added to the option list, just like the 1966 model.

2014 BMW 4 Series

2014 BMW 4 Series

Because Four Is Greater Than Three. Say what you will about the name 4 Series, there is a method to BMW's madness. On one hand, it's easy enough to just buy into the logic that odd numbers are reserved for sedans and wagons, and that even numbers are reserved for coupes and convertibles. On the other hand, consider the idea that the higher numbers are used to separate the more dynamic, more engaging vehicles that use the same platform. It's that sort of separation that differentiates the 6 Series so nicely from its 5 Series roots, after all.
