Cop lets speeding G55 AMG driver go on Thanksgiving in exchange for revving engine

Cop lets speeding G55 AMG driver go on Thanksgiving in exchange for revving engine

The holiday spirit is infectious, it seems, even for police officers. And, after watching this video, we're quite sure that the driver and passenger of the Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG are thankful that the Thanksgiving spirit spread long and far enough to cover a speeding ticket in exchange for a blip of the throttle. After pulling the two men over, the unnamed police officer, who appears to be writing the ticket as he's making conversation, asks the driver what kind of car he's driving. After finding out what it is, what it's powered by and how expensive it is, he casually tells the in-car duo to slow down and drive safely...

Samsung spending big on ads, but returns aren't quite as expected

Say what you will about their smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches, but one thing is for sure: Samsung doesn't skimp when it comes to marketing. Already on record as one of the biggest spenders on advertising, a recent report from Reuters delves deeper into Samsung's strategy. Has Paying big paid off. The short answer is yes, but with a caveat. The $4.3 billion spent on ads and marketing in 2012 is expected to balloon to $14 billion by the end of this year. If anything, it has helped to raise brand awareness around devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4, but huge advertising push hasn't exactly established the brand Samsung is going for.

Alcatel Idol X+ To Be Accompanied By Smart Devices?

The Alcatel Idol X+ from TCL is said to be well on its way, especially since we have spotted an alleged leaked image of it just a few days ago. Assuming that it is well on its way to being announced, chances are also pretty good that it will be accompanied by a smartwatch as well as a smart bracelet. Just how do we know about this. Apparently, the Chinese website MTKSJ does seem to have put up a teaser image of the soon-to-arrive Alcatel Idol X+ announcement, with the image above showing "1 + 1 > 2?".

2003-2004 Isuzu SUVs recalled for suspension corossion woes

2003-2004 Isuzu SUVs recalled for suspension corossion woes

Here's a brand we haven't written about in some time. Isuzu is recalling 8,816 2003 Rodeo Sports and 2003 to 2004 Rodeo and Axiom models that are registered in just about any state that uses salt on winter roads. That means Isuzu owners in states as far east as Maine, as far south as Kentucky and as far west as Minnesota will need to report in with their vehicles for repairs. This recall follows a previous corrosion-related issue for 2002 Axioms and Rodeos.
The problem, which is no doubt exacerbated by road salt, has to do with corrosion around the forward mounting point for the lower link of the rear suspension.

HTC One max now available from Verizon

Two days after we spotted the $299.99 price tag of the HTC One max in Verizon's new Mall of America Destination Store, the phone is now on sale. To our disappointment, Verizon and HTC have not put much emphasis on the handset's release. Due to its size, the HTC One max will have limited consumer appeal, but you'd think there would be a bit more fanfare around the phone due to the overwhelming success of the Samsung Galaxy Note line. As stated before, Verizon is selling the HTC One max for $299.99 with a two year contract with a full retail price of $599.99.

Oppo Find 7 teased in a first official photo

Oppo has posted the first official photo of its upcoming Find 7 flagship on its Weibo page. The teaser image shows just the back of the phone - but its enough to give us a better idea of what the phone would look like. The photo shows that the Find 7 will have some sort of reflective material used for its back panel and won't stick with the matte finish of the Find 5. Oppo calls it a "holographic mirror design" and promises the phone to be another Oppo classic.

Strong words, indeed, but we definitely like what we see. The edges of the glass back look to be chamfered and you can spot the metal frame surrounding the phone.

What do you think of the freemium model for mobile games. It certainly does have its advantages as you will first be able to give the game a go in terms of checking it out, whether it falls within your expectations or otherwise, and then only will you invest additional dollars to make sure that your progress in the game itself will go on smoothly. Of course, there is also the danger of spending plenty of dough in the long run compared to the one-time payment for a game itself. Rovio has decided to take the freemium route with their upcoming Angry Birds Go. kart racing title that will be out this coming December 11th.

CyanogenMod Installer gets pulled from the Play Store at Google's request

Well, it lasted longer than we thought. It's been a little over 2 weeks since the CyanogenMod Installer officially landed on Google Play and today, Google has formally requested the Cyanogen Inc. remove the app from the Play Store. Why. According to the Google Play Support team, the application was in violation of their terms of service.

Before you freak out, Google admits that while the app is harmless (it only enables ADB and directs users to the desktop installer to complete the installation of the CyanogenMod ROM), they simply can't list an app that encourages Android users to void their handset's warranties by rooting and ROMing.

It wasn't too long ago that Google announced the Nexus 5 and while for the most part the handset appeared to share similar hardware to the LG G2, one of the things that unfortunately did not bring over was the LG G2's camera, which based on our reviews proved to be surprisingly good. That's not to say that the Nexus 5's camera is bad, it's just not what some would consider to be the best. Google seems to think otherwise and has since released a trio of videos that highlight the Nexus 5's camera abilities and some of its features, such as HDR+, Photo Sphere, and Auto Awesome.

Bond From Kwamecorp Could Offer Physical Touch In Long Distance Relationships

I would say that all of our senses are equally precious, and one should never underestimate the healing power of touch. In fact, being separated from your loved one is difficult enough to go through, even more so when it involves a long distance relationship, never mind that one is still able to call, text, and hold video conversations – there is something about a human touch that makes everything different. Will technology be able to help us bridge this gap. Perhaps, as Kwamecorp has come up with this new Bond system.

Most Moto X customers are likely waiting patiently for Android 4.4 KitKat update to drop. Google has already released the update for its Nexus devices, whereas other OEMs are expected to follow suit soon. Given Motorola's relationship with Google, its wholly owned by the latter, one might expect Motorola's recent devices to receive the update sooner rather than later. While it has already been said that Android 4.4 for Moto X is going to be released in the coming weeks, it seems that Verizon tends to push out the update within a few weeks as well. However it seems that according to Paul Thurrott who has a pretty good reputation when it comes to insider information regarding Microsoft, he claims that Microsoft could be getting ready for launch an entertainment-only Xbox One console.

Gran Turismo 6 will use GPS to recreate your morning commute as a course

Gran Turismo 6 will use GPS to recreate your morning commute as a course

Perhaps one of the most highly anticipated features in Polyphony's upcoming installment of the Gran Turismo franchise is its track creator. We played around with a version of this in GT5, and while it was quite cool, it did leave something to be desired. It's safe to say the track creator in Gran Turismo 6 will be far more versatile. At some point after the game's launch, players will be able to download a GPS-enabled app to their smartphones. Turn it on while on your choice of road, and the app tracks elevation and GPS coordinates to create a replica of the road in the game.

Octa-core Ascend P6S confirmed by Huawei president

The Huawei Ascend P6 is not only one of the slimmest, but also among the best looking smartphones around. It is also a pretty decent smartphone with the only part of its hardware that wasnÂ't quite impressive being the chipset, which tended to deliver more heat that actual processing power. The Chinese manufacturer has obviously acknowledged that as itÂ's now preparing to release an upgraded version of the smartphone featuring a new chipset with an octa-core CPU.

New leak says HTC M8 will launch with KitKat, again points to 5-inch display and Snapdragon 800

We don't know much about the rumored followup to the HTC One, but the details are slowly starting to come together. Initial leaks have said the phone will feature a Snapdragon 800 CPU and a display measuring between 5 and 5.2 inches. The latter spec has been narrowed slightly thanks to @evleaks, who today tipped that the handset, known for now as the HTC M8, will feature a 5-inch, 1080p display. The presence of a Snapdragon 800 was again mentioned, and it is said the device will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat. The presence of Google's latest version of Android doesn't come as much of a surprise.

Samsung said to launch a device with wraparound screen next year

According to a report released by Bloomberg, Samsung has plans to release a smartphone with wraparound display at some point next year. The new screen tech will allow users to look up messages or stocks from an angle. The upcoming device is said to use updated version of proprietary Samsung technology called Youm. It was showcased during CES this year, and is currently featured in the Samsung Galaxy Round.

Speculation points that the new three-sided display can be seen in ether a Galaxy S, or a Galaxy Note device.
