Samsung has announced two upgraded versions of its Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini smartphones. Both will feature FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE, enabling "continuous and seamless voice and data communications even as the devices switch between two different types of LTE networks.". Except for the broader LTE compatibility, the enhanced Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini shouldn't be different from the original models. Samsung did not say when (or where) the new smartphones will be released.
Commercial TDD-LTE (or TD-LTE) networks are currently deployed in few markets, including China, India, and Sri Lanka.
