Visually-impaired people on the go deserve to know the trendy places that surround them as they walk. They want to know what places they pass by, not just whether there is an uneven pavement. Of course, there is Foursquare, but we know the blind cannot use that. This is where BlindSquare comes in. Available on iPhone and iPad, this app serves as a guide for the visually disable with the help of user-generated FourSquare data, text-to-speech technology, GPS, and OpenStreetMap. As the user travels outside, BlindSquare narrates via headphones information about nearby places, intersections, or guides about his destination.
