Samsung finally gets cut a little slack in the Netherlands, where a Dutch court has ruled in favor of Samsung — you read that right, Samsung — in a dispute with Apple over 3G patents. The description for Samsung patent #EP1188269 describes an “apparatus for encoding a transport format combination indicator for a communications system.” I haven't the slightest clue what all that means, but it sounds pretty general. Apparently, the patent was descriptive enough for a District Court in Holland to find Apple in violation, specifically, with their 1st and 2nd gen iPads, iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4.
