In an attempt to give the iPad a run for its hipster money, Microsoft has unveiled its own tablet computer. The Surface runs on the yet-to-be-released version of Windows 8 operating system called “Windows RT,” is fitted with unspecified ARM microchips, and is the first commercial PC that Microsoft has directly designed and sold. The device comes with the usual tablet specs, including a 10.6-inch HD-quality touchscreen, front and rear cameras, all fitted into a 9.3-millimeter-thin magnesium frame. It has, however, some tricks up its sleeve. For example, the tablet's cover can be flipped down to become a full keyboard.
