Washington State has been really cracking down on drivers talking on their cellphones while going down the road. It is now a primary offense, and you can be pulled over and ticketed for no other reason. As the story goes, I purchased my wife a Journey Bluetooth Car Speaker from Jabra for Christmas. Her old device was dying a quick death and she definitely needed a new one.

Toyota to ramp up Canadian production of RAV4

Sales of the RAV4 are down five percent so far in 2012, but that won't stop Toyota from increasing North American production. Automotive News reports that Toyota will spend $80 million to retool its Woodstock, Ontario plant to increase production from 150,000 crossovers per year to 200,000. The increased production will also lead to the hiring of an additional 400 workers at the plant. Some speculate that Toyota is ramping up North American production to combat the high Japanese yen. Only 13 percent of the RAV4s sold in North America in 2012 have been Japanese imports.

The Fins say they've covered as much as 1,500km of the road system across the two cities and have shared a bit about the way their real-time traffic updates service works.

Bandai tweak its good old iDog and introduce the Smartpet, a Robot Dog powered by an iPhone.

If you have an old film SLR lying around the house that is either broken, or if you have no plans for it in the future, how about transforming it into an iPhone charging dock. As pictured above, an Etsy user by the name of Roberto has managed to do just that and has converted several old SLR cameras into working iPhone charging docks. Given how heavy some of these cameras are, they would appear to make a pretty solid base for your iOS device, not to mention they're probably one of the more unique iPhone charging docks we've seen.

As promised, the Value pack for the Samsung Galaxy W has now started rolling out in Europe as OTA or via Samsung Kies. Currently, only users in Slovakia and Romania are able to get it, but more countries should follow soon. Based on Android 2.3.6, the Value pack update aims to bring ICS-like features to smartphones that won't be getting an Android 4.0 update. The most prominent new feature is the popular Face Unlock, which Samsung tweaked for improved security.

The highlights list continues with a new Camera icon visible while shooting videos, which allows you to take photos without interrupting your recordings.

At CES NVIDIA and ASUS unveiled a 7-inch tablet with a quad-core Tegra 3 processor. The specs aren't exactly special at this point in the game, but the pricing model was. The new slate would be hitting shelves at $250. Since then, rumors of the device becoming a Nexus-branded ASUS tablet in partnership with Google have mucked things up a bit, potentially driving the price to as low as $150 while sacrificing certain hardware elements that may or may not include the Tegra 3 chipset.

The “awesome” ASUS Transformer Prime update we were first teased with earlier this week is now rolling out to users. As was detailed yesterday, the new software brings about features like face unlock, new lockscreen notification controls, and the Google Play suite among other fixes and tweaks. We’ve received reports from several users in the US who were able to pull the update by performing the old “check for updates” routine in the ‘About’ portion of the settings menu. It might behoove other owners of the Transformer Prime to do the same.

Called Account Activity, it sends you a monthly (password-protected) report with insights into your signed-in use of Google services. Resembling HTC's One X in many aspects (at least feature-wise), the Optimus 4X HD comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, a 4.7 inch HD display, and an 8MP rear camera.

Mensa's official Brain Test app was pretty successful when it was released for iOS devices back in 2010, and now - over a year later, it looks like the app will be making its first appearance on other platforms. Mensa announced today that Brain Test is now available to download on Android, BlackBerry and Nokia mobile platforms (Windows Phone on the way) thanks to Appshen and Barnstorm Games. For those who don't know, the Brain Test App is loaded with Mensa approved questions designed to test a player's logic, mathematics, language and visual disciplines.

GM to recall select full-size SUVs and vans over steering issue

Recalls have been issued for four 2012-model-year General Motors products over steering-gear issues. The Chevrolet Suburban and Express and GMC Savana and Yukon XL could suffer from pitman shafts that weren't hardened properly, potentially leading to a fracture and a loss of steering. There are 6,159 vehicles involved in the recall. GM will begin notifying owners early next month, at which time they can take their SUVs and vans to the dealer to repair the problem free of charge.

BlueStacks was reported to be in its alpha testing stages late last year and now it looks like the app has been upgraded to the next level. According to reports online, the Android app player for Windows has now reached beta testing level for the public to try out. Just in case you don't know what BlueStacks is all about, it is a program that lets you run Android apps on your Windows computer - great for those apps that don't have desktop or web versions at the moment. Nvidia's Kepler to make its way to superphones in the future

Now this is interesting news from NVIDIA. CEO Jen-Hsun Huang has dropped some details in an internal email that has said that there are possibilities that the latest Kepler GPUs could be headed to future Superphones. Kepler has made waves in the recently released GTX 680 with its incredible performance at the top of the GeForce pyramid. Jen-Hsun Huang also said that “Today is just the beginning of Kepler and that because of its super energy-efficient architecture, we will extend GPU's into datacentres, to super thin notebooks, to super phones”.

Slick Google Voice integration may not be Sprint exclusive for long

Despite its rocky start, we wouldn't blame you for being a little jealous of Sprint's tight integration with Google Voice. Well, the relationship between the two might not be exclusive for much longer. Vincent Paquet, Product Manager for Google Voice, told CNET in an interview that the web giant is actively talking to other carriers about forming a similar bond. Formula One may, to outsiders, seem like a monolith, but it is in fact a gathering of rather disparate parties. There's the FIA which governs the series from a sporting standpoint, there's the collective of teams competing in the series, and Formula One Management, the company that holds the sport's commercial rights under the direction of one Bernie Ecclestone. The only way they all get along is through the terms of the Concorde Agreement – the contract that divides up the spoils, namely television revenues and prize cash, between the parties. And that contract is coming up for renewal.
