The more powerful your computer setup is, the more heat it will tend to generate especially if you're packing powerful graphic cards and have a lot of processes going on. That heat needs to be cooled, thus the existence of cooling fans and liquid cooling systems. While liquid cooling systems might be a cooler solution, not everyone has the know-how or the need for such cooling systems and will resort to fans.
