Suit claims Utah trooper faked DUI arrests

Suit claims Utah trooper faked DUI arrests

An officer with the Utah Highway Patrol was relieved of duty after allegations surfaced that she falsely arrested more than 40 people for driving under the influence. The New York Times reports that a lawsuit stemming from the allegations was filed on December 14 in Salt Lake City's District Court. The suit accuses Corporal Lisa Steed of arresting drivers who weren't even drinking. In some cases, those arrested were people who claim they don't actually drink alcohol at all.

Apple In Negotiations With Waze To Rescue Its Maps App [Rumor]

Apple In Negotiations With Waze To Rescue Its Maps App [Rumor]

The Apple Maps drama has to be one of the most public screw-ups in the company's recent history as they arrogantly thought they could deliver a maps application as good, probably better, than Google Maps. Not only did they completely fail at that task, but the move also removed Google Maps from everyone's iOS devices starting at iOS 6. Luckily, iOS users got Google Maps back last month, but Apple would still like for its Maps application to mean something more than a complete and utter mess. And to accomplish that, it may be hiring some outside help to deliver exactly what they want.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Random Shutdown Fix

Samsung Galaxy S3 Random Shutdown Fix

There were reports of the Samsung Galaxy S3, despite being one of the better selling smartphones out there in the market, is not free from its flaws, where one of them included randomly dying which is definitely one of the more irritating experiences to go through as a smartphone user. At least if you know of certain ways to avoid your smartphone running into certain issues, that is livable to a certain extent, but not to get fair warning on what could trigger a random shutdown is downright annoying.

Torchlight 2: More Than 1 Million Copies Sold

Torchlight 2: More Than 1 Million Copies Sold

Runic Games has expressed their gratitude and thanks to over a million fans of the game Torchlight 2 which has sold over a million copies, especially after the gamers themselves were required to wait after a delay in the production, resulting in Torchlight 2 hitting the market later than many of us had expected. I guess this shows that good things come to those who wait, and gamers are not an impatient bunch of folk who do not appreciate a good thing when they see one. Hopefully other developers would be able to realize this and not rush through their titles in the years to come.

Ubuntu Mobile OS Coming Soon

Canonical Ltd., the company behind Ubuntu, has announced the first major tech news of 2013: a mobile version of the Linux-based operating system will soon be available. The OS is based on existing Android kernel and drivers, except that it does not have a Java Virtual Machine. The Ubuntu mobile OS, which Canonical brags would use the “full power of the phone,” is compatible on both ARM and x86 devices.

How to jump a Toyota FJ Cruiser over a sand dune... poorly

YouTube is a great place to show off your vehicle and your driving skills, but more often than not, it just helps to prove that vehicle stunts should be left to the professionals. Take this particular driver, for instance. While jumping a sand dune in a Toyota FJ Cruiser, things go very wrong very quickly. There is no indication as to the condition of the driver, but we that hope he or she is okay and has learned a valuable (if expensive) lesson.

Facelifted Buick LaCrosse caught in China

Facelifted Buick LaCrosse caught in China

Back in September, General Motors promised nine new or refreshed models for its Buick and GMC brands within 12 months, and while we've already seen what the updated 2014 GMC Sierra will look like, we're now getting our first look at what appears to be the facelifted 2014 Buick LaCrosse. Judging by a set of spy shots posted on Autohome showing a Chinese-market model, the updated sedan is getting a pretty big makeover, including a completely redesigned interior and a refreshed exterior. From the outside, all of the usual midcycle updates have been made to the LaCrosse, including new lights and fascias.
