Skype iOS apps hit v4.0: improved stability, minor UI tweaks in tow

Skype iOS apps hit v4.0: improved stability, minor UI tweaks in tow

Everyone's favorite VoIP service, Skype, has rolled out a fresh update to its iPhone / iPod Touch and iPad clients. First off, the Microsoft-owned outfit added a revamped login screen to both iOS applications, and now offers the ability to move your vid preview around the screen — much like FaceTime does. To go along with the new pair of features, Skype's changelog also notes the app will now automatically restart after a sudden crash, while other undisclosed enhancements were made to improve the overall UI, stability and accessibility. Of note, Skype v4 requires folks to be running iOS 4.3 or later.

HTC pats itself on the back for the One X's battery life, has plenty of help

If you're a smartphone fan (of course you are, if you're not then you're almost certainly in the wrong place, can we ask how you even got here?) then you've almost certainly been bitten by the bug of a battery that just doesn't last long enough, the normal side effect of a data hungry lifestyle. HTC says it feels your pain however, and thinks it's done quite a bit to lick the issue with its latest flagship phone, the HTC One X. In reports consistent with our experience with the dual-core AT&T iteration, a blog post on the company's site notes several others that have tested it out and come away impressed with the battery life it shows.

Kia K9 launches in Korea, export model to get new name

We so wanted to lead this post with a Jim Belushi joke. Alas, the Kia press release announcing the launch of its rear-drive flagship in Korea today specifically clarifies that the K9 will be renamed for other markets. While Kia says the large sedan rides on "its own platform," we know enough about the auto industry to posit that much of that platform is shared with the underpinnings of corporate cousin Hyundai's Genesis Sedan and Equus.

Nikon D3200 now shipping from Best Buy, unboxing video gets personal with new features

Nikon promised us a "late April" shipment of its D3100 replacement, and sure enough, it looks to have met that self-imposed deadline. The black D3200 kit is now shipping from Best Buy warehouses, and while a litany of other reputable e-tailers have the unit listed (check our links below), we're seeing it backordered elsewhere. That said, these things are obviously trickling into the places that matter most, and determined to-be buyers can almost certainly call around to find one in stock.

“Draw Something” Usage on a Downward Trend

“Draw Something” Usage on a Downward Trend

Just over a month ago, reports claimed that Draw Something was the most popular mobile game in the world. But in the world where new apps are introduced every week, it seems the latest Zynga acquisition is losing steam quickly. Using a third-party chart maker, Business Insider checks in on the number of people actively using Draw Something and notices a worrisome downward trend. As of May 1, the average number of active users per day is at 10.2 million, lower than when when Zynga acquired the game.
