. HTC may be looking to follow in Samsung and Apple's footsteps in developing its own processors, according to a rumor from China Times. The Taiwanese vendor has reportedly signed a “memorandum of cooperation” with ST-Ericsson to co-develop a new dedicated chip for low-end smartphones that will come out in 2013. The joint venture will help HTC reduce its reliance on Qualcomm and NVIDIA processors, which are predominantly featured in the company's current smartphone offerings. HTC, which has seen slumping sales, focused previously on the high-end market.
Not that we’re surprised or anything, but Sprint has announced that the Samsung Epic 4G Touch, their Galaxy S II variant, would be getting Ice Cream Sandwich this year. We pretty much expected it, alongside other high-end devices, to receive the update. Unfortunately, Sprint doesn’t tell us when, exactly, to expect it within the calendar year. Still, it’s nice to see they’re committed.
The famous geo-tagging app Foursquare has passed 20 million users worldwide and subsequently its users have churned out a staggering 2 billion check-ins. The announcement was made to commemorate the third annual 4sqDay which resulted in US-wide meet-ups. In June 2011, Foursquare reported a user count of 10 million and after doubling that figure in less than a year, the location-based social network app can proudly claim its cross-platform success which includes iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Phone.
Verizon is about to launch the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE. That has become obvious today, since details about the device have made it to Verizon's Droid Does promo site. Renders of the phone, alongside a quick rundown of some specs, and complimentary marketing speak – they're all there. The new Droid Incredible has even been priced. It will cost $299.99 with a new two-year contract. Now all that's left for Verizon to do is actually announce this handset.
As announced earlier this week, AT&T will start selling the HTC One X on May 6. If you just can't wait to have it, AT&T has opened pre-orders for the new device today. The One X costs $199.99 with a new 2-yr agreement, and can be bought in either white, or gray. The off-contract price is $549.
For the past 2 weeks I've been lucky enough to test drive a new car. The first car was a 2012 Mazda Mazda 3 and this past week it was a KIA Rio EX 5-Door. I loved the KIA Optima I test drove last year, so I was excited to try the smaller, more economical Rio. Note: Click the images in this review to see a larger view.
I want to start this “review” out like I've done the other 2 test drive articles, by letting you know that this isn't going to be a super detailed vehicle review like you'd read in a car magazine or see on a car show. I don't know much about engines and don't car.
